JULY 9-12,19 2007
We arrived at 7 am at the simple and sparse school in the middle of the Signal Village in Taguig. The actual space where we were to conduct the course was rained out due to the rusted tin roof so we improvised and conducted the sessions inside the classrooms. It was cramped but the energy was high with anticipation.
The kids were absolutely adorable but a little naughty given to fits of laughter. On the first day they were either extremely shy while the others were uncontrollable. By the third day, they were all closing their eyes and giving 100% to the process. They enjoyed the breathing excercises and meditations immensely especially the yoga sessions of Ate Dona. On the second day, the kids were humming the Shloka to themselves as we served them snacks and packed up. As usual, the satsangs were a revelation as each class had prodigious guitar players, singers and drummers (watch video 1 here, video 2 here). The first days homework was to do a kind deed at home or at school but most of the kids were already presently helping out their family in the household chores as well as in keeping the school clean so for homework on the second day, we asked them to write down their dreams and gave them little bookmarks with Guruji’s pictures to keep beside their dreams. Then we candidly spoke about commitment and perseverance and that with regular practice of the breathing excercises, they could achieve their dreams. When we asked them for the logic behind this, one child answered “Its because of Faith”…
